About the Gym

We are a science-based fitness center backed by proven physiological techniques that can help you advance you to your next level of fitness!

JK Strength and Fitness was developed to bring science and physiology back into the fitness arena. Many gyms and fitness facilities don’t educate you on how to work out effectively, productively, and safely. Here at JKSF, we believe that education is the greatest tool you will have on your fitness journey. We will teach you how to make your muscle dictate the motion, not the motion dictate your muscle.

Our highly educated and certified trainers will go over every workout and explain how to do the movements properly in order to work out correctly and the safest way possible. It could be a basic bicep curl or an intricate power-clean complex! We make sure you learn how to perform the movement the way the movement should be executed.

We also believe that the greatest workout without proper recovery methods and nutrition doesn’t account for much. Nutrition advice and accountability are crucial to reaching any goal whether it be weight loss, increased strength, or size. Workouts only last 1 hour; the other 23 of the day make or break your progress!

A letter from Jon Kosrow

Owner and Founder of JK Strength and Fitness

Hello! Let's get right into my story. I was born and raised in Elk Grove, Illinois with my 6 brothers and sisters. Family is the most important thing in my life, fitness is a close second.
My passion for sports started when I was 8 years old, I played football for 13 years, starting with little league and ending at the collegiate level at Carrol University. I studied Exercise Science at Carrol, for my undergrad and eventually went back to get my Masters in Exercise Physiology. I decided to study Exercise Science after an (almost) career ending injury to my ACL my senior year of high school. After understanding how fitness, strength and conditioning was able to help rehabilitate my knee I wanted to learn more. My introduction to the fitness industry began at Bally Total Fitness.  I really enjoyed my years there and learned a lot from veteran trainers.  Leaving when Bally got bought out, I went to Lifetime Fitness.
I moved to the city a year later and started training at Fitness Formula Club.  Great experience, not my atmosphere, so I decided to go back to school so I could get back into training athletes.
After graduating with my Masters from Carroll U, I accepted a position at Miles College in Birmingham, Alabama as the Director of Strength and Conditioning. During my time there I launched the strength and conditioning program for the Football team, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, baseball, softball, track, cross country, men’s golf, and volleyball. I spent three years growing my team to accommodate the program’s growth. This was an incredible experience, and after three years I decided it was time to go back up north, and headed home.
In the last two years, I have worked a couple different “boutique” style gyms. Here I learned how to run group classes, and manage different populations of people, and skill levels. I also continued my side business as a personal trainer. My clients have a diverse set of goals that I am able to help them achieve; weight-loss, increase strength, hypertrophy and sports performance. I also have experience working with clients who have MS, down-syndrome, cerebral palsy, and paralyses.
I have been working to diversify my skillset in this field for the last 12 years and I am so excited to finally launch my own gym and brand to share my knowledge with all of you!
Please feel free to ask questions for I love sharing information with willing people, and if I don't know the answer, I will find it out!!
Thank you for joining JK Strength and Fitness!!
